The Spyglass is a tool used for zooming in on distant objects and locations.
Crafting
Step-by-step Instructions
- Open a Crafting Table to access the 3×3 grid.
- Place ingredients exactly as shown in the grid (shape matters unless marked shapeless) then move the resulting Spyglass to your inventory.
- Use, place, or craft further with your new item.
Ingredients Needed
- 2x Copper Ingot
- 1x Amethyst Shard
Ingredient Tips
Copper Ingot: Smelt copper ore; wax copper blocks with honeycomb to prevent oxidation.
Amethyst Shard: Mined from amethyst clusters in geodes; use Silk Touch to move budding blocks (note: they don’t drop).

- Examining details from a safe distance
- Spotting mobs or players from afar
Fun Fact
The Spyglass was added in the 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update alongside amethyst geodes and copper, making it one of the first items to require these new materials.
