Smithing Tables upgrade diamond gear to netherite and apply armor trims using smithing templates.







Step-by-step Instructions
- Open a Crafting Table to access the 3×3 grid.
- Place ingredients exactly as shown in the grid (shape matters unless marked shapeless) then move the resulting Smithing Table to your inventory.
- Use, place, or craft further with your new item.

- 2x Iron Ingot

- 4x Oak Planks

Ingredient Tips

Iron Ingot: Smelt iron ore or deepslate iron ore in a furnace or blast furnace.

Oak Planks: Crafted from any logs in a 2×2; great starter material found in all forest biomes.

Why can’t I upgrade to netherite?
Since 1.20 you must use a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template plus your diamond item and a netherite ingot. The template is consumed.
Do trims remove enchantments?
No—applying an armor trim preserves existing enchants and durability.
