Minecraft Armor Trims
Complete guide to all armor trims in Minecraft and where to find them
What are Armor Trims?
Armor trims are special items that allow you to customize the appearance of your armor without affecting its stats or protection values. Each trim has a unique pattern and can be applied to any type of armor (leather, iron, gold, diamond, netherite, or chain) using a Smithing Table.
To apply a trim, you'll need:
- The armor trim smithing template
- The armor piece you want to modify
- A material ingredient (like diamond, gold, copper, etc.) that will determine the color of the trim
Combine these items in a Smithing Table to apply the trim to your armor. Different material ingredients will result in different colored trims!

About Armor Trims
Armor trims were introduced in the Trails & Tales Update (1.20) to give players more ways to customize their armor appearance. Each trim pattern is inspired by different Minecraft structures and dimensions, making them collectibles worth hunting for.
The 17 unique trim patterns can be found in various locations throughout the Minecraft world. Some are found in specific structures like Ancient Cities or Bastions, while others are rewards from ocean monuments or desert pyramids. This encourages exploration and makes each trim feel like a trophy from your adventures.
Pro Tip: Armor trims are consumable when used, so you'll need to find multiple copies if you want to trim different armor sets. However, you can duplicate trim templates by combining them with diamonds in a crafting table, making it easier to apply the same pattern to multiple pieces.
